Posi options for Moser 9"

I'm thinking about replacing my Detroit soft locker in my Moser 9" with a strong posi. I tired of how the locker throws the car around in the turns. What do you guys recommend? I know Rich Krause likes the Eaton unit with 800 lb springs; is that available for a 9" application?

I went with a True Trac posi for my 31 spline setup. We built mine at work, and the guys who build these all the time suggested it to me. I dont know if Eaton makes one, otherwise I probably would have one as we are a Eaton dealer. So my guess would be they dont make one.

I have a Tractec locker. It's strong but very noisy!

Thanks for the feedback guys! My local shop, Pro Gear in San Diego, is recommending a Trac-lock. About $800 to rebuild my existing 3rd member. My other option would be to buy a new 3rd member with the posi (about $1,150) and sell my existing 3rd member with the soft locker in it.

Crzhrs, Thanks for the link to ring-pinion...a lot of good information. I find it interesting that they don't list the Zexel Torsen T-2.

Re: Posi options for Moser 9"

I bought a Trac-loc from Randy's Ring & Pinion this morning. They beef it up by replacing the stock cast "hat" with a billet piece. Also decided to step up to a Currie 9+ housing a 6161 aluminum oversized pinion support. These parts may be over kill for my application but the new housing saved me the core charge cost of $82, helping to offset some of the addition cost. Great tech line at Randy's! When I swap it out I'll have a 9" 3rd member with the locker, 3.50 gears, 31 spline, 1330 yoke up for sale if anyone is interested. It's in great shape if you like lockers!
