Poly trany mount vibration???

I just got my poly trany mount and put it in this weekend. I took the car on the highway after install and OMG!!!!! my car felt like it was going to fall apart?? I know a lot of you guys run with these and said you noticed very little vibration. I had so much I couldn't go over 75 mph. I was pretty disappointed I alss noticed it lowered my trany by 3/16 of an inch, would that cause any of this?? Help me out guys if you have any info I can use. I got the trany mount from RK sports.

Re: Poly trany mount vibration???

Auto or manual? My poly trans mount shook the hell out of my car when it was auto, so i put the stock mount back in. I converted my car to manual, and used the same poly mount and its super smooth. I had an energy suspension mount..

Re: Poly trany mount vibration???

Motor mounts should be fine. Your vibrations are caused by the driveshaft not being in perfect alignment.

I put the Energy Suspension poly mount into mine last year, and I just haven't taken the ~10 minutes to put back the factory mount either!? Yeah, it made the car vibrate like crazy around ~40 mph, and at a couple other speeds as well. I don't think it really helped my 1/4 mile times either!??!!

So you are saying the motor mounts will not cause any vibration? I don't want to go threw all that work just to find out I can't take it and have to purchase new mounts again.. Call me a wusss if you like but after that trany thing i am just scared...

it definitely will not vibrate like the driveshaft. Do some searches, youll find your answer

Re: Poly trany mount vibration???

I broke mine so I replaced it with one from Advanced Auto Parts and it works great... it is much sturdier than the stocker and has survived thus far No bad vibrations... but then again I'm used to them with an open cutout But even with it closed, the mount doesn't seem to make it vibrate at all. $12.

Re: Poly trany mount vibration???

On my car, I replaced the rubber motor mounts with poly, and got a *slight* increase in vibration.

I had some driveshaft virbation at speed though so I swapped an Aluminum LS1 driveshaft into my car and it was nice and smooth.

Then I snapped the trans mount at the drag strip one night. I put a poly mount in, and got TONS more vibration.

On a whim, I disconnected the driveshaft and rotated the pinion yolk on the rear end (turned rear wheels so that the yolk moved) 180 degrees, and bolted the driveshaft back up.

Problem solved. Smooth as silk now compared to before.

Ditto. And I've got the 'vibe-shaft' as well. At a certain RPM around town around 45-50 mph you fell it.. and on the highway 110+ you can definately feel it. I've got an LS1 driveshaft I'm going to put in soon -- but I must get my 4L60E rebuilt first
