plz help with gears....
plz help with gears....
M6, hotcam, 150NX mostly street and a lil 1/8th mi rarely 1/4. i wanna be able to bust my bro's bolt on ls1 on a regular basis. what gears should i run and plz dont just rattle of gears sizes if you dont have a clue.
Re: plz help with gears....
If you are running street tires traction is going to be a problem with the stock 3.42's, but if you are running something that will hook I would say go with 3.73's over 4.10's because of your 150 shot.
Re: plz help with gears....

Re: plz help with gears....
Just go with the 4.10's. With an M6 the fuel efficiency is still great on the highway and should put you ahead of a bolt on LS1 with the mods you've got, assuming you're tuned and not running a stock program. You got exhaust on this car or stock? No headers? You really need to get a set of headers and a catback if you dont have one already, and obviously a CAI. That being said + 4.10's......you're sure to whoop his *** and still have a streetable highway driver.
Re: plz help with gears....
For driveability purposes, I'd say if it's more of a street-driven hot rod, I'd go with 3.73's. If it's something you don't take on the highway often, and/or you're planning to run it mostly @ the track, then 4.10's may be okay. There isn't a huge difference, anyways. I've had both, and I'm actually moving back down to 3.73's from my 4.10's in my M6. If you're making gobs of power already, you're not going to feel the difference. If anything, it may seem slower due to traction issues. Mine is only a weekend toy, but it does see the highway a couple times a week. I just like the shift points and cruise RPMs of the 3.73's- they just seem to "work better" with the posted speed limits. 4.10's are nice for cars that don't make much power, but after enough power is made, 4.10's are just impractical, IMO. Besides, you do know that in order to PROPERLY install your 4.10's, you'll need to spend another $100 or so on "paddle" spacers...
