Question Please offer your clutch opinions

I did search and couldn't find exactly what I was looking. My clutch is starting to slip some and I would like to get a new one here soon. I have heard the the Mcleod is the only way to go. However I just CAN'T afford that right now. I do have a blower but only seeing about 4.5# (for now) so I feel I wouldn't need that much of a clutch. I have heard that the Valeo clutch is very cheap and holds well. What do you guys think? I just don't have the money and I don't think I have the power to need a Valeo right now. Thanks a lot, your advice is appreciated.

Stephen

I have the Spec Stage II. I did have issues after the break in period, but now it grabs very good. I would probably go with it again.

If not, I think I would go with the LT4 Clutch/PP/flywheel setup from SLP.

valeo makes all the pressure plates for our cars, stock and aftermarket.

Your car see any track time? If not the lt4/SLP would be ideal.

The car might see the track a few times. Not a lot. However I want something that will hold for a bit.
thanks

SLP is ok and will do 350-400rwhp but anything more than that and its over. I'm going with SLP but I dont plan on anything other than bolt ons and possibly a 75 shot. McLeoud makes an intermediate clutch that will supposedly hold 450ish rwhp that may be something worth looking into.

I have Spec Stage III, seems to hold very good, hits hard, drivability is good except you have to get used to it, 4.10 gears made the clutch just perfect otherwise there is chatter in 1st & lots in reverse, in 1st its just while starting off, but iwth 4.10s there is none in 1st & just a bit in reverse. I have it with an alluminum flywheel from spec, so if I had a steel flywheel & 4.10's I belive chatter would be gone

I got a replacement clutch from Advance Auto parts. It's an LT4 pressure plate and stock clutch disk. It's holding fine for me so far. Best of all, $199 for the kit.

Tempting because it's so cheap...but I wonder if you just got an oddball that's holding ?
