Exclamation Please HELP!!! Rearend Install Question ??

I'm tearing out the old ring and pinion right now and i've run into a problem. What all is involved in getting the pinion shaft nut out?? the nut that is pretty much in the yolk or what not. Do i have to pull the driveshaft out all together (from yolk and tranny) or what? Also what I really need to know is the size of that pinion shaft nut. If anyone knows the size of the nut please let me know. Thanks!

You will need to remove the driveshaft and find a way to hold the yoke still while you loosen the nut. I have been told that the nut is 1-1/4". That is the size socket I bought to do mine, but have not worked on it yet. After the nut is off, you should be able to pull or tap the yoke off. There will be an outer bearing under it. If the carrier is removed you will be able to tap the pinion into the housing to remove it. There will also be an inner bearing still on the pinion.

Hope that helps.
