Please help me with my final clutch decision

Well...I got in my car today and find that my clutch is slipping even worse than it has been. I know that the Mcleod twin street is the one that will really hold. However I just don't have that much money. I do have the Vortech but I only see about 4.5#. That number will eventually multiply when I get the money for the rebuild. I realize then that I would need the Mcleod. Right now I'm not making that much power. So what clutch would you guys advise? Something that would hold until I saw a lot more power. As always your advice and opinions are greatly appreciated.

Spec Stage 2 with Spec Billet Alluminum Flywheel. If your gonna do ALOT of track runs then go with the stage 3 6 puck setup. Clutch it about $450 and flywheel is about $450 also, together, they are both cheaper then the $1000 or so for street twin without flywheel. Just my .02

Save your money and get the Street Twin, you will not regret it. I got mine last november for $904 (that included shipping/handling and it included the flywheel).

What about the Mcleod single disc. I've heard very good things about that. It runs around the price of the spec 2 . I have heard a 99 T/A running 10.40's all motor with this clutch. Just heard of this today...I'm considering this

I think you need the McLeod adj. master cylinder to run this disc. You definitely need it for the street twin, you could buy it now and then get a street twin setup minus the master cylinder (which is usually included, but you can order just the street twin). I talked to the McLeod tech guy and he said that if you have a blower or nitrous, the single disc won't hold. The single disc is good up to about 450 hp or so.

That is no good. Although right now I don't have 450 or anywhere close. 4.5# won't do too much. However sometime late this winter when I do the rebuild I should . I really don't consider the street twin an option. It's just too much right now. So excluding the Mcleod Street Twin, what would you all suggest? I THINK the single disc is around 440 but that's without the adj master cylinder. Thanks again for the replies

You are correct about the price of the single disc. If you think about it, the Street Twin is worth the money. You get a flywheel and an adjustable master cylinder for the price. The master cylinder alone is about $250 and flywheels are $300-400 and up. So you get a lot for your money. If you don't want to spend the money on a Street Twin, you can go with a Spec stage III. I think that's about your only option other than the ST.

the spec stage 2 clutch is a good one. it can handle 450 hp, and since you said your not close to that then you should be good.
