Play in the driveshaft...Is this normal?

Well i was under my car last night trying to figure out where the noise in my transmission is coming from. For instance if i push on and off the gas in 3rd gear real fast it sounds like my transmission is very loose and something is banging back and forth inside it. So when i was under the car i shook the driveshaft up and down. I was able to move it up and down a little bit. Is this normal? Also when i put the car in neutral and spun the driveshaft by hand i can hear weird noises rattleing sound comeing from the tranny. I'm thinking that maybe my driveshaft is messed up. What do you think? One more thing I already have a Energy Suspension tranny mount and it is in good condition still.
