Question Pinion Nut Torque

I replaced my pinion seal last summer and didn't mark the pinion nut/bolt relationship correctly, so now the rear end is mis-torqued. I didn't drive the car much after that but now I need to get the problem resolved, so I am going to replace the crush sleeve and set the torque correctly. The problem is, no one seems to know what the torque spec is. Can anyone help me?

I believe the spec is 20 - 22 inch-pounds of "drag" (meaning, snug the nut up just a little at a time, and turn the pinion with the inch-pound gauge, and the turning resistance should be 20 - 22).

You can almost do it be "feel" ... basically, you don't want the pinion to be able to spin resistance free ... you want just a small amount of drag, but too much and it'll put too much load on the pinion bearings, leading to premature failure.

I know this was discussed awhile back, and I believe that 20 - 22 inch-pounds was confirmed .

the crush sleve is not re-usable,, never try, it is a 1 time only deal

yes use a new crush sleve and keep tightning the pinion nut till you get 20-25 inch/pounds of turning resistance
