Performance axle

I was looking at my window sticker the other day on my car and noticed an option on there that said performance axle. It was a $325 option I think. I was wondering what that consisted of. Thanks

Should be for the rear end. Probably 3.42s

Actually, it's 3.23's. Standard gears for A4 cars is 2.73's, while 3.23's are the "performance" option. 3.42's come in M6 cars, and there is no option for them.

Thanks for the info. I thought it was gears but I didn't know if they had a different differential or any other internals were different.
