Pedal Assembly Issues
Hello. First post to this site. Could use everyones help/suggestions. My pedal assembly has been getting looser over time and I can't get the dealer to fix it. I have had the return-spring replaced as that snapped a while back. Whenever I put in the clutch the whole assembly moves to the left slighty. If I take my hand or foot and move the brake pedal side to side there is a bunch of play (1/4"-1/2" perhaps more). I'm taking the car in again tomorrow to try and convince them that the assembly should be replaced. I knew that this was a potential issue before i bought the car, but it is annoying to have a sports car with loose pedals and a dealer (any chevy dealer for that matter) that is incapable or unwilling to fix correctly. Will I have to pay to get this fixed every 20k miles? Are there aftermarket pedal assemblies that are better?
Are there any recalls or some ammo (not literally) that I can take with me to get this thing fixed. My factory warranty will be up very soon and I want it fixed before then! Feel like I need to buy an extended warranty with such lack of build quality, but don't want to due to the poor quality of work at the dealer........They have actually done more damage than good to my car every time i take it in! Appreciate any advise/suggestions.
I am first owner: 2002 camaro z-28 M6 bone stock with ~20k miles. I don't even hammer the car, that's the sad part......
Regards and thanks in advance.

Re: Pedal Assembly Issues
Have you checked the nuts/bolts that hold it in for tightness? Perhaps put some thread locker on there or something? If that's not the issue, then you should definitely hassle the dealer to fix it before your warranty is up. Working down there is labor intensive ($$$) and there's some parts there that are fairly unique ($$$).
Re: Pedal Assembly Issues
Thanks. As far as I can tell they are all tight. This all started awhile back, with the pedals flexing some when I put in the clutch. Dealer tightened it up, said the movement was within tolerance. One week later the clutch return spring broke (heard it go), and the pedal assembly got looser as I contined to drive it. Took it back in, replaced the spring but didn't address the loose issue. I'm convinced something broke (pivot bushing or something). I'm going in tomorrow to give em trouble.
I like the car but GM service has been pathetic.....enough that I will never by a new GM again............which is sad to say as I have four GM products now and the new GTO and Vette look sweet....their loss.
Will let you know what happens.
