Operation TH400/LT1
Operation TH400/LT1
Well I have the TH400 w/Manual valvebody and B&M Mega shifter ready to go into the car, but I had some questions on what you guys had used for ways to make certain things work.
Trans Mount: What size spacer did you use on the M6 mount? And how much work did you have to do on the holes to align it right? I saw Raptor trans sells the mount and spacer, but your talking $100+.
Dipstick: I was thinking of just getting a flexible Lokar one for simplicity.
Driveshaft: I'm guessing most guys had this done locally with their stocker or had one made up.
Torque Arm: I am probably going to go with the UMI TQ Arm that utilizes the tunnel brace and comes with a driveshaft loop. Two birds, yadda yadda. Out of curiousity, anyone try to mount the stocker to a 400?
Flexplate: I am reading I need an external balanced 153 tooth. I think Jegs sells a SFI rated one for $50 I was going to use. Anyone use that one?
Trans lines: I am going to use the stainless braided lines this time around. Again out of curiousity has anyone ever ran the quick disconnects inline?
Other than that I have everything else covered, John @ Fuddle will making a converter for the setup in the coming weeks.

I would not be concerned about the spacer as of now. That can be fabricated later for your setup. I currently run probably about 1" of spacing from the M6 crossmember. You will also have to elongate the holes to get it to fit.
A Lokar 36" dipstick is what you want.
It would be best to see what length of a driveshaft you need before you buy one. The length will depend on the type of rear, short or long tail.
I would call UMI on that one...
Do you want to have a working speedo? You can buy the parts you need from chevy for all the parts consist of is a reluctor ring and a pickup that goes into 4L80E transmissions.

the mount will be simple, I just used a piece of flat stock the same width as the factory mount, did the measurements and welded it together with a few braces. the dipstick, well I used the lokar 36" one but I dont care for it at all. no good place to mount it, madman/thunder racing has a nice dipstick for th400 in a 4th gen F body.
Yea, I remember you having problems with the Madman. I'll make the flexible one work. Seems like the M6 mount wouldnt take much to work well. I'll definately be measuring before buying and I dont care about the speedo.
Any of you guys run the braided lines? Jegs sells a kit for like $114. Seems pricey, I was wondering if anyone has a part list to see if I can get them cheaper individually.
Advice on the flexplate?
Thanks fella's.
IMO there are only two.
The firewall or somewhere on the head...what were you thinking?!
