odd noises from T56
odd noises from T56
i tried to search around some but couldnt find anything really similar to my situation...
but when leaving a stop, and only a stop, when i start to let off the clutch pedal and it start to engage fully, i hear this gear noise from the tail of my tranny by the shifter..maybe just synchros coming up to speed?
also my other thing is i can be in like 2nd or 3rd (or any other gear) spinning about 2000rpm with very little throttle then i let off the throttle completely and i get this clunk sound..the same sound also happens during shifts if i let the rpms fall too much, say i shift out of 1st at 3000, rpms drop to 1000 and i let the clutch out quick...if i match rpms, or feather the clutch, its fine.
i just had the tranny rebuilt maybe 1000 miles ago, and its been like this since the rebuild but ive had people in the car saying their fbody has never made noises like that.

Re: odd noises from T56
Is your shifter stock? The clunk is mostly likely gear slop or could possibly be a tranny mount.. If its still the rubber one.. ARe you using a poly mount? All these upgrades such as shifter's and poly mount's all are made of a harder material therefore their sound absorbtion properties are significantly less then stock hardware.. Turn the radio up for the tranny noise.. just the nature of the beast.. For the clunking.. jack er up and rotate your driveshaft one way and then the other.. how much play is in the pinion?
