OBD conversion tranny fix?

I have a 97 with an OBD 1 conversion done to it. I thought before my rev limiter was set wrong, but when I looked the program over through tuner cat the rev limiter is set way higher than my problem occurs.

I have been fighting this for a while and have done everything from having the tranny looked over to replacing the secondary ign (and opti cleaning). I finally just gave up and started shifting sooner.

Anyway a guy thats into LT1s like myself said it may be because I have an OBD 1 computer and a 3000 stall, he said he heard here that that can cause problems.

My problem is a late shift, acts like it hits the rev limiter right before it shifts (6300 rpm). I cannot manually hold the gear past this either, but sometimes if I let it shift itself it revs past this a little and shifts fine (with a slight hesitation). Its kinda frustrating because I know I have a tenth or two of time if I get this fixed.

Any Ideas?

That sounds like a typical problem with OBD I and a higher stall convertor. You should be able to get it fixed with a computer tune though.

I'll move this to the Drivetrain forum because I think more guys there can help you. But, you might also want to post this in the programming/diagnostic forum as well.
