Re: not shifting

Could be a shift solenoid. I know on my 94 the E-brake light on the dash will come on when the solenoid is toast. Mine went out shortly after my trans was rebuilt, and it would do like you were describing. It would start off in 2nd, shift and then the torque converter wouldn't lock up. Luckily for me it was all covered by the place that did my trans. If you can, have it scanned. It should tell you whats up.

Re: not shifting

Check your fluid level. 4l60es are very sensative to proper fluid level.

Re: not shifting

Its your shift solenoids!!!!! theyre like 15 bcks each one..they are the same part # one is for 2-3 shift...the other for 3-4 shift...and real easy to change them......

Re: not shifting

I have an 00 Z A4 and when I bought it it shifted hard into 2nd and then regular to 4th. Gradually it started to somewhat slip a little into 3 and 4 and now all it does is go from 1st to 2nd and not shift to 3rd or 4th. Is mine solenoids or something more drastic?
