Not letting me shift into gear
Not letting me shift into gear
Once in a while my car doesnt let me shift into gear it almost seems like its locking me out and its not skipshift or anything this is a 93 plus it does it from a stop sometimes. I have a pro 5.0 but it did this with the stock shifter too.
Are you saying while you're stopped, sometimes its hard to get into 1st? If so, I've found that to be normal. My TA, my friends TA, and my 5-speed Sundance do it. Sometimes it helps if you double-clutch into first if you have been idling. If this isn't helping, please elaborate. HTH
Ok i guess its normal then it always worked if i let the clutch out then pushed it back in i wanted to just be sure it happened today going in reverse and also shifting to sec but its the first time it happpend while i was moving.
The T-5 and T-56 are known for that sort of behavior, They say the T-56 will let you shift it into first if your going 20 mph or less. I never could. There is a lock out on the trans the prevents you from putting it in first while your coasting. However, when you come to a complete stop and then put the clutch in and put it in gear, no problem. I have seen This happen even when your going 3 mph with your foot on the clutch and the light turns green, you find yourself fighting to get it in first. I always would hit the clutch in, and then shift into 2nd, then into first. Most of the time its the quality of the trans. Get a really expensive trans and it wont be as bad. My saturn does too.
