that glue-like substance that apparently acts like a spring to center the shifter. Half of it has liquified... if I touch it, it sticks to my finger like vaseline or something.

The "glue" doesnt center the shifter, the internal springs center the shifter, the liquid is just a type of lube. I love my Pro 5.0, the solid shifts are night and day better than the stock slush box shifter. As far as the shifter moving that much, you might want to check your tranny mount, as the rubber mount may be giving out. I have the Energy Suspension poly mount, and love it, almost no movement at all out of the shifter and it makes it feel even more solid. There is a little added vibration with the poly mount, but then again, I didnt buy my car to be a quiet luxury vehicle, I bought it wanting a V8 sports car. Thus my constantly open cutout.

How much do those mounts run? That should be a pretty easy swap assuming I have access to a hoist, right?

Dude, it just takes some getting use to. You probably missed some shifts with your origonal shifter when you first got the car. You should practice some more WOT shifts to get the hang of it. You practice normal shifts every day, and don't miss one. Practice!

If I had a car I didnt care about, and could drive it for free, you could bet id be out there right now running the crap out of it and mastering the shifting. However, I prefer to drive my car 'hard' as little as possible for the cars sake... and im losing my job at the end of this month, so I shouldnt be throwing all that gas money away.

Not saying your wrong though, cause practice is probably exactly what I need.

omg, come on, the car is built to be driven, if you hardly ever drive it fast how could you complain about the shifter if you rarly use it, its like anything else, it takes some practace to make it work.

The poly transmission mount is about $25 and you can get it about anywhere that sells performance parts for our cars. I did mine with one jack, a jackstand, and a ratchet, no other tools really needed. Just support side of car or front of car, place a jack with a wood block under the tranny for support, unbolt the crossmember, swap out worn rubber mount for new poly mount. Installation is reverse of removal.

Wow---I'm suprised that this many people don't like the Pro 5.0!!!

I'm not trying to be an ***, believe me, but I'm thinking it has to be user error as said above. What I do sometimes, is drive normally, but shift really hard and fast to practice, then just let the clutch out normally. I'm kind of suprised that you can go from 2nd to 1st on the 2-3 shift. After i shift to 3rd when i'm going fast, I find myself thinking....wow, i just threw that thing straight up, and it found 3rd. With the crappy *** stock unit, you had to move it over and guess/hunt for 3rd. With this one you just toss it up there.

On a side note, my dad was driving my car,and for somereason...he just couldn't drive it. He grinded like 4 times in a row, and I've always considered him a master of driving a stick. He went from driving his C5, hopped in his C4, then in my car (all 6 speeds ) and he's incredible with his C4 as far as shifting, but he wasn't pulling it back all the way in gear i think. I told him the way i do it, is i relax inbetween shifts, but when i shift i SLAM it into gear with all I got. Godamn, that **** is FUN FUN FUN

I practice shifting hard just cruising all the time... and Ive never missed. It only happens under WOT. Oh, and the 2-3 miss only happened once... Ill take the blame for that one. Its the 3-4 that gets me because 3rd is kinda in-between 2nd and 4th on the Pro 5.0.

The 2-3 shift is all elbow positioning... If you have it resting on the arm reat being getto cruiser, then the angle you're pushing forward is nutorious for mys-shifting, tuck your eblow in twords your side and then go about slamming it in gear, you'll hit it every time...

I slam my shifts so hard when I'm playing around, I actually make my hand sore after a night of screwing around... With the Pro/MBA Billet combo....

Just an update on this... (my net has been down for over a week)

I cut the shifter handle down about an 1"...maybe a little more but I have to say it has made quite a difference. I shouldve cut it down from the start. I havent missed a gear yet, and Im probably 10 times more confident in my shifts then I used to be, since the throws are a lot shorter, and I do more of the shifting with my wrist instead of my arm.

Im hoping this has forever solved my problem

I don't understand at all how anyone can miss the 2-3 shift with a PRO 5.0. To me it seems impossible, all you need to do when coming out of 2nd is push the shifter straight up and it will jump to third. No matter how fast I push straight up, it goes straight to third. Pratice stick more I guess.
