Noise coming from rear when turning

About 4 months ago, my '99 trans am was hit in the right rear wheel @ 45mph. I got the car out of the shop last week. The entire rear axle assembly was replaced with a used one from a '99 SS camaro, I'm unsure of how many miles was on it.

For the last few days I've noticed a grinding/squeaking noise coming from the right rear when I'm turning at low speeds, 1-10mph.

I took the wheels off yesterday and noticed the caliper bracket on the passenger side was ground up on either side of the caliper piston. The rotor partially ground up as well. I moved the passenger side rotor to the drivers side to see if the noise would follow the rotor and it didnt, the noise stayed with the passenger side and rotor I just put on the passenger side showed signs of rubbing the caliper bracket.

When I put the caliper bracket on, there looks to be a good 1/8-1/4" gap between the bracket and the rotor on both sides and there doesnt appear to be that much back and forth movement on the axle.

Does anyone have any idea whats causing this? I'm hoping someone here has had a similiar experience.

You can see where the rotor was grinding at the top left.

Here's the caliper bracket, you can see where the rotor was rubbing the bracket to the left of the piston.

I've heard of the calipers grinding on the rotors while making low speed turns. My Camaro does it every once in a while too. I seem to remember there being a shim out there that you could install too correct this. Maybe someone else can chime in that knows a little more.

I'd hate to put in shims just to bandaid the problem though, expecially after dishing out $7500 to get the car fixed in the first place.

Does anyone know what causes the rotors to rub in the first place? I didn't have this problem with my old rear axle and the one that was put in the car supposedly had less miles on it than my old one. Why is the rotor all of a sudden rubbing the caliper bracket?

The car was hit in the right rear wheel @ 45mph, the quarter panel had to be replaced along with some frame work these cars are expensive to fix when you wreck'em. I'll post pictures if I can find'em.

btw I checked shoebox's site, the shims listed on his site are for a '93-97 fbody, mines a '99
