Hello, just got back into cars, been doing the goldwing thing. Back in the day had a 68 musting then a 69-396/375hp nova a/stock.11.10@126. Just picked up a 96 Z-6speed,black,t-tops etc. Have 2 questions, whats the deal with the skip shift? And do you recommend synthetic trans fluid for the 6spd,what kind works best? Been away from hot cars for a long while and it's good to be back. Wife thinks I'm nuts(60 in oct.)but stillHAVE THAT NEED FOR SPEED. sON-IN-LAW HAS A V-TECK CAVALIER AND HE IS AFRAID TO RACE THE OLD MAN. Keep the shiny side up-phil

He should be afraid to race the old man. As for the skip-shift thing you can buy a plug and play skip-shift delete. I bet that gets on you nerves bad.

The skip shift feature was originally desinged to help gas mileage in town. It is more annoying than it is worth. LIke the above post, it is a plug & play fix. BTW congrats on the new Z28.

Re: newby-z owner

you can always hold the rpms longer or give more throttle and the skip shift won't operate.

it's designed to function between specific speeds/rpm and a certain throttle range. and those are pretty low...:D so just give it hell at every stop light and you'll be fine.
