New rear end

I recently tried to figure my rear end's gear ratio on my 84 firebird and when I went to spin the rear tire and count how many times the driveshaft turned, I only got 1 and 3/4 turns per tire rotation which makes no sense. Anyone know why it's doing that. Everyone that's seen it says it's a 2.73. Also I was wondering how much of a difference in performance it would make if I went from that 2.73 open differential rear to a 3.23 limited slip rear. I run high 13's now.

thanks
