Need your help with clunking noise

I have a 2002 Z28 that i've had for about 3 months. It has this clucking noise that sounds like its coming from underneath the passenger floor board. You can also feel it in your feet if your over there. It only happens when the cars accelerating. I thought mabey it was a suspension peice but i got under there and looked and everything seems to be ok. I am very confused so any help would be great.

Thanks
Derek

Re: Need your help with clunking noise

Is that a common problem with an M6?

Have you recently had bad wheel hop? If the drivetrain takes a hard hit, then it is common for it to break (its actually just rubber, so i tears). They dont' really just "go bad" though. Not too expensive and not too hard to replace.

It's very possible the tranny mount broke on you. You can buy a polyurethane one for like 20 bucks or something through Thunder Racing. Try replacing the mount if you want to, see if that solves the problem

I've broken dozens of tranny mounts. Easy fix, cheap, and offers good peace of mind. They don't break unless you're really ripping on it i.e. dumping the clutch while already rolling at 30mph.

Someone just told me Autozone is now stocking poly tranny mounts. Might be a better option for someone that needs it asap.

Re: Need your help with clunking noise

I've been looking for a mount and the only one i can find is from the dealer for $65. Every where says they cant get one in because its so new and that the changed it for the LS1. Is this true? And does anyone know any company that would sell a polyurathane one and its part #? Thanks for any help.

Go to autozone and look around, you'll find the energy suspension tranny mount for about 20 bucks.

Re: Need your help with clunking noise

to find out if it is the tranny mount, just stick a crowbar between the tranny and the mount and push down on the crowbar a little. if u see cracks or separation then thats what it probily is. If it's not that check the shock and strut towers, ball joints, and stablilzier links. hope this helps

Feel free to look up my problum about a bad tranny situation, I really need help
