Need help diagnosing 4l60e problem
Lately, I am having problems with tranny on my '96 V6 firebird. I am pretty much new to auto transmissions, so I have no idea what's going on, is it transmission or converter? I'll try to describe my problems:
When cold, it seems to be performing well in various conditions, problems starts after a little driving. When speed in not exceeding 45-50mph, everything seems to be ok. On higher speeds, while cruising, you can feel that something is slipping in drivetrain - you can slowly give it more gas, RPM's begin to increase without this "engine connected to wheels" feel, and car is not moving faster. You need to give it even more gas to accelerate.
Problem started half year ago, when I first noticed that while cruising at ~65, when you let off gas completely, then slightly adding it, RPM's jumps a little, then jumps back and you getting this "locked" feeling with increased engine load.
I tried to find replacement transmission for '96 V6, but it seems to be tough mission. Will any other trannies work? I would love to have zero downtime by bolting good tranny there over weekend. Thanks a lot

Some of what your describing sounds like normal lockup clutch operation the locked feeling when you let off a little , But the reving sounds like you may very well have converter clutch or actual transmission clutch slipping , We may have one of the units you need in stock PM me sometime today and ill look and see ,
