Need help choosing stal converter
I have around $500 to spend on a stall converter. Its mainly a street/street race car. The mods are in my sig what converted should I get and what stall?

You have a PM. Rick.

Though it may be a bit out of your budget, I'd contact Andre at Edge Racing Converters and talk to him. He'll take the time to talk with ya about what you want and set you up with the right stall and STR you need. You pay for the 9.5" converter and he'll set the stall and STR for whatever you want. I think the 4L60E converter is around $595.
Whatever you decide to go with though, stay away from TCI, dont be baited by the low price :) |
I think I'm gona get a fuddle for $450 sounds like the best deal. What size stall should I get for my mods? And will I have to worry about stall wall?
|
Something around 2800 - 3200 should be a good stall speed. I have a 3000 Vig which flashes up to 3200 and I daily drive mine. Get some 3.73's in that rear end too! Gears will help with the drivability of a higher stall.

Fuddle is saying I should go to a 3400 2.1 str he say it will stall lower at my altitude 6000 feet?
|
I'd go with Johns judgement on this one. He knows what he is talking about and is located in Utah, so he probably has had altitude problems before. Fuddle was going to be my suggestion. You just cant ignore the price. Although a used Vigilante would be good too, but the warranty Fuddle offers just cant be beat.

Well I spoke to John and I went ahead and ordered a P.3000 2.0 str. He said it would work great for my application. And I wont have to worry about the stall wall issue, He said it would stall around 2600 to 2800 for my altitude.

Sounds good. You will really enjoy it. :D
