Is my tranny broken? Wont shift with car on
My car has been sitting for a few weeks and I go to start it. It was in first gear and I go to start it and car starts moving forward as I turned the key! but it didnt fire up. Took it out of gear and It started right up but then I couldn't shift into any gear with it running. Soon as I turn it off I can shift again....everything was working fine last time I drove it. What the hell???? Is it the clutch?
Re: Is my tranny broken? Wont shift with car on
i bet its not the clutch because the clutch is still moving the car. my guess is your hydrolic line from your petal to the bellhousing underneath.. have someone press the clutch petal as you look underneath... could be that.. a line could of burst.. if the clutch was burnt out.. it wou;ldn't grab at all.. i dont think.. i could be wrong.. sorry.. thoguht i would just try to give me sense worth..

The engine and clutch are brand new (200 miles), but I allready had to get the pp resurfaced. The reason for that I was told, was I had the wrong weight on the flywheel which I did. But I have a feeling this may have something to do with the clutch. When I was driving it, something didnt feel right. I could never get the take off right and it would chatter and make funny noises on take off. Ive been through hell with this clutch allready.
Re: Is my tranny broken? Wont shift with car on
that is really weird... have u taken it back to the place that put it in? or did you do it yourself? what type of clutch... aslo.. you got you pressure plate machined down? or you got your flywheel machined down?
you arent "sapposed" to machine your flywhee.. becuase you need the pressure on the clutch to make it move.. otherwise you will hear alot of chatter..................
maybe if you only machined it a very little bit?

Its a mcleod street twin, got the pp resurfaced, and before that the flywheel needed some weight taken out, I took it back to my mechanic whos been doing all the work for me except for those 2 things were done by someone else. Ill find out soon when he looks at it. Im betting on the clutch again
but thats better than the tranny at least right?
