Is my stall that ineffiecent???
Is my stall that ineffiecent???
Well I went and got dynoe'd today...
I didn't like the numbers but I guess my fuddle 3800 stall is eating quite abit of hp. The dyno guy said the car sounds very healthy and pulls strong from what he could tell.... my numbers...
318.94rwhp.
301.49tq. It looks from the sheet that he stopped at around 5850-5900 rpm's. but I thought it said 6,000 on the computer...
old numbers w/ headers 2400 stall and cai was
258.96rwhp
292.09tq.
so 60hp. gain with h/c,injectors,t.b. and a couple of other things...
could my stall be eating up 40-50 hp on the dyno
it feels very strong... guess I have to wait until the track tomorrow if it doesn't rain. or on fri. eve...
Plus I know I have a bigger cam, and it was still gaining on hp.. just didn't want to rev. too high with the stock bottom end, and around 171,000 miles...
I'll put up the sheet as soon as I can find the camera

Well, my '02 dyno'd 327/345 to the wheels (un-corrected) and ran a 12.87 @ 110. Mods in sig.
My Dad's '73 Camaro dyno'd only 286/299, with a TH350/~2800 stall/4.10 gears, but his car had previously managed a 12.79 @ 109 w/4-speed and 3.42 gears
.
Also for comparison, before I switched to the T56, my car only dyno'd 289/307, yet still managed 13.0's @ 107.
My point?? Dyno #'s only tell half the story ... especially for auto's, low gear ratios, and especially w/ high stall converters

Update went to the track here are my times...
Well I finally went to the track, my best run was..
rt/ .026
60ft/ 1.7
330/ 5.315
1/8.. 8.229
mph.. 84.09
1000ft.. 10.752
1/4.. 12.868
mph.. 106.26
so I did gain 22mph from the 1/8 to the 1/4.
Im not sure if it is the fuddle now.. car was not bogging, I did get the right tire to lift off the ground a couple of inches on this run.. and it hooked hard with the et streets w/18lbs. in them.
my buddies LE2 93 firehawk w/yank ss4000 stall did run a best of 12.2 at 110mph.
we are almost identical...except my fuddle 3800... so im down .8 tenths and 4 mph from him...
we would launch almost identical, but by the 330 he was a constant 3-4 mph. and held that 3-4mph. all the way until the end...
Im kinda leaning towards tune now..
only real diff. from me to him is that he has a professional tune from ed wright in oklahoma.
and I had mine tuned from a buddies house for free... does seem to run good though.
he had the same tune, then went to ed wrights and picked up 20whp. and more tq... he said his topend came alive after that, so I think I'll be saving up for a ed wright dynotune and see if that helps...
I did gain 22mph from the 1/8 to the 1/4. and so did my buddies LE2 setup..
so Im kinda leaning towards the tune, what do you guys think???
