Question On my recent roadtrip I noticed something, is it a worn synchro? Please take a look..

Highway trip, doing about 70mph in 6th gear. after about 2 hours or more of driving I had to slow down to a stop.

Started gearing down as normal but when I tried to put the car into 3rd gear there was a noise present that was not normal. Sounded like rotating parts...not gears or tranny grinding just a sound constant noise. definitely comnig from tranny/clutch/flywheel area...not the motor.

This was only when downshifting to third. for acceleration 3rd was perfectly fine for engaging. (when gearing up/upshifting)

The car was contrary with downshifting to 3rd for a day and a half or so and most noticeably if I was slowing down from highway speed.

The clutch was FULLY pressed to the floor when it made this sound, and never let the clutch out because I didn't know what was going on....jsut slowed down with brakes with car in neutral then used 2nd then 1st....

Is this a worn synchro? I'm a bit uneducated on this type of sound/problem.
