Red face More tranny woes: slips but manually shifts

I had my tranny that I bought from a fellow which was rebuilt and had a few miles on it. I tossed in a 3,000 stall when it when in aswell as a tranny cooler. This was about 2 months ago. Now the tranny is starting to slip really bad in 2nd. When I put the shifter in drive and go from a stop it will slip. But when I go through all of the gears; 1-2-3-d, the tranny will shift fine. What is the deal? Is this normal when a transmission is going out?

well when you manually shift it, you are most likely above the point where it would want to shift normally under a normal load. Over time it will slip no matter what. I am not at all impressed with the 4L60 or the 4l60E. Nor am i impressed with the T-5 or T-56, but thats another story. Looks like its time for a rebuild.

I know damn well that GM could have built a stronger trans, or had one built for them. You didnt see these problems on 3rd gens with the 700r4 under normal conditions. they could have used some sort of Electronic Turbo 350 or 400 trans, just like they could have built a much hotter ignition that die like opti sparks.

So I'm guessing its an internal tranny prob and should be looking into a rebuild right?
