Momo shift ****/short shift?

Hey all,

I bought my 01 WS6 Trans Am about a month ago. It came with a short shift kit already on it, and a Momo shift ****. I don't really like the shift **** and handle, so I decided to get an SLP leather ****. However, trying to remove the Momo **** is a pain because it's multiple pieces.

Here is where the problem is: I think the shift handle is part of the whole Momo setup. When I finally got the **** off, the handle has several different diameters on it. If I try to put the SLP **** on, its completely lose, so I know it won't fit into this handle.

I'm not sure what I need, because part of the shift handle unscrews from the main shift rod (that goes to the trans) about 5 inches down. The threaded end is the shift rod, and the shift handle threads into it.

Does anyone have experience with these setups? I'm not familiar with it so I don't know exactly what I need. I hope I described everything well enough. Let me know if I need to clarify. Thanks for the help.

Re: Momo shift ****/short shift?

The reason why it's different diameters is probably because it was shortened to the point where it tapers down. I shortened mine the same way (Pro 5.0 shifter and Momo ****). I doubt you have a Momo handle there simply because I don't know of one.

You probably don't have any thread left, so I would recommend getting another Momo that you like. There are some that look almost identical to the SLP ****, only they're much better.

I didn't figure there was different handles, but I don't know why my SLP one won't just slide on?

Anyways, thanks for the site. I found the **** I have. It's this one:

so any of the other Momo one's will work? Should I just take my SLP one back then? Thanks again for the help

Ion is right, Momo does not make a stick. The SLP handle is threaded for 16 mm x 1.5 and meant to screw on the stick. If there are no threads on the end of your stick, it has already been shortened. Get a replacement stick if you want to use the SLP handle or a different Momo handle if you want to use the stick you have now.
