In middle of T56swap small question.

I'm nearing the completion of the swap. I installed the shifter today and tested it with the ignition off. Its actually pretty easy to go into reverse. I thought that reverse lockout solonoid was supposed to prevent it from going to reverse with the ignition off.

Is the gate open when the car is off? Or is it really that easy to hit reverse?

I thought it was only at speeds higher than 3 miles per hour, or something like that.

Yeah thats correct.

Guess I'm wondering is the gate supposed to be closed when the car is off?

It will shift into reverse when the car is off.

Actually the gate is closed when the car is off and open when you put the key in. The gate will close again once you exceed 3mph. You can actually hear the solonoid if you put your ear down to the shifter when you turn the key. I got that part all sorted out. Just reporting back for future viewers.
