McLeod Street Twin first impressions
McLeod Street Twin first impressions
Finally got the Street Twin installed about a week ago, and I'm impressed!
First off - the ST looks like a quality piece when you open up the box. Top quality machining work everywhere. My engine builder thought the flywheel looked like a piece of art.
As for driving the car with the ST - I was expecting the clutch to be really grabby for the first little bit, but it wasn't.
The pedal effort is a noticeable little bit higher than stock, but not outlandish. The clutch itself works smoothly and quietly, and I'd say better than stock as far as those qualities go. Engagement is smooth, over a good bit of the pedal travel.
Overall, the clutch is so civilized and street-friendly that it's hard to believe it can handle as much power as it can. Well worth the money, and I heartly recommend it to anyone looking for a street/strip clutch with no compromises for either purpose.

It will get even more drivable once you get some more mileage on it too. The ST's are nice. They can hold some power for sure too. The bummer is getting them resurfaced if you need to. Best thing is to send them back to McLeod and the'll do it for you. They bead blast it and put a nice finish on all surfaces again for about as much as a shop would charge to resurface. Problem is a lot of shops can't resurface that center plate. McLeod will resurface them all and there cool guys too.

Hell yea man... I love the my Steet Twin. Drive the thing everyday and you can't even tell it's aftermarket other then two facts...
It feel like a freight train hitting your car when you dump that clutch
It's stiffer then stock... but not even stiff to where it's uncomfortable!
I love it

Not to hijack your thread, but did any of you get a little gold piece in the baggie with the parts for the master? It is rectangle, has a radius cut in the middle of one of the long sides, and a small hole in one of the corners. Also, there is the a small little clover thingy etched in it that Mcleod uses as its symbol. I have been scratching my head trying to figure out if it is a key chain of some sort, or does it go somewhere?
Re: McLeod Street Twin first impressions
Pilot, check with Eric at Victory Racing. I got mine to my door with a zero-balanced steel flywheel for just over one large. I think it was $1019 to be exact.

When I got my ST I called the company and asked them, I thought it was used for the install. They told me it was for the Vette style clutch, I asked them why it was in mine and if I had the correct clutch. They said they include it with all their LT1 style clutches.
BTW I'm from Omaha too.
