Re: Mcleod Street Twin

350RWHP is way more realistic than 370 on a lt1 car w/ Lt1 heads.. LS1's are the 370rwhp+ cam onlyclub.. i think altjar has 350ishrwhp or so w/ a 847 cam only.. whichis the highest i've personally seen a cam only Ltx car dyno.. i'm sure a solid roller in the 260ish range can make some good peak power but it'll be a really crappy around town car..

I agree. The 847 is 234/242@.050 and a good amount of lift to go along with it. The XE227/233 is down 7 degrees on intake duration, plus the lift isn't as much. Atljar hit 357rwhp, and another has since hit 358rwhp. Both with the GM847. With all supporting mods, but stock heads, I can see 340-345rwhp SAE out of that cam, and if you hope for any more you are just going to be dissapointed.

I'm not argueing with you, just repeating what I Was told. I also heard that the XE 227/233 Cam goes GREAT with stock heads... because I heard matching heads/cam combos go alonger way then the best of both.

Re: Mcleod Street Twin

I'll have some more Numbers on a Junk motor w/ stock head's and a 847 Cam.. Just using it to sort out my fuel sys. and what not prior to the 396 getting dropped in.. PUt that cam in and see what kinda power it make's.. I"m not saying it can't happen.. i"m just seen the same combo's over and over again on this board and their is a certain trend! Yes matching a cam/heads combo makes good power for sure.. But the number your shooting for is only going to be acheived by a big duration big lift cam.. ANd your bottom end curve's are going to be rather flat.. But what do i know?

I vote twin. I love mine, and will never go to another clutch.

I shattered my Spec stage III on Sunday. That is the 2nd Spec III that I've put down and they were different disks. I will not be putting another one in the car. I'm was putting down around 450hp with spray when it went. The first one I toasted was on a motor pass putting down around 350hp.

Re: Mcleod Street Twin

I am not talking price, I am talking quality for everyday driving in a traffic area with insufficient power. I am talking 350rwhp and about the same in torque. Which one will work better? When I want to slam gears, which is the better clutch? And for everyday traffic areas, which one will meet in the middle of it all? The single or street twin?

If it's only 350hp just do a stock clutch.

I vote for the twin. Why put a stock clutch if you can go alot better for a few hundred dollars more. I went through two stock clutches. Second one only lasted me a year. The clutch broke apart (spring). Never again will I do that. Waist of money. With the money I spent on the second clutch, I could have had me a S.T and my car would have been running as we speak.

Well w/ only 350rwhp i'd say a mcleod single will do ya just fine.or even a stock clutch. ANd save ya a few bux to do other thing's.. If you want a clutch you'll never have to upgrade. Then you know what i recommend..
