Question Main differences between the Pro 5.0, SLP short throw, & B&M ripper?

I'm in the market for a new shifter. It seems everybody says their shifter is the best. Any ideas or actual facts to back up what the pros and cons are of good aftermarket shifters?

I have no experience with the Pro 5.0 or B&M, but my I installed an SLP shifter and love it. I bought mine off of ebay for $129 brand new with a "custom TNA short stick" and a Hurst ****. That's atleast $30 cheaper than you can get either of the other shifters without a ****. The difference from stock to short throw is basically night and day, no matter what brand you buy

Question

Does anyone actually know how these things work especially compared to a stock unit?

Most folks have not owned all the different shifters - although they may have tried them out in a bud's car.

BAsically the stock shifter is a POS as it's too long and not crisp, I routinely messed up the 2-3 shift.

I bought a B&M as it was the most recommended by member at the time and I am very happy with it - from my reading these days it seems as though the pro 5.0 is the flavor of the month. Both are much shorter than stock and provide snappy and crisp shifting

Bottom line is that both these shifters are significantly better than stock. Find one at a good price and swap it.

...kind of a funny story, when i bought my 99 ss i kept having a problem with missing the 2 to 3 shift when speed shifting it so i ordered up the bm ripper...so i go to change it out and i found out previous owner had put in a pro 5.0 shifter....so in getting to the point i like the ripper much better then the pro 5.0......lol...
also i have not had any 2 to 3 shifting problems since the change..

I have two 93's, one with a B&M Ripper and the other with a Hurst from a 01 WS6. Both are WAY better than stock, but the Hurst still blows. It's too flimsy and too tall. Personally, I like the B&M, although Pro 5.0 does seem to be the overall favorite at this point. The only bad thing I've heard about it (Pro 5.0) is that the stick angles towards the drive.

Are you sure it was a pro 5.0?...i've had mine in about a month now and i haven't missed 3rd gear yet...i'm suprised to hear you say that...the pro 5.0 has the spring loaded mechanism so all you have to do is shift up and it will put it in 3rd for you...

im also im the market for a new shifter im thinking of the steeda tr-ax it sounds a lot like the pro 5.0 in that its angled at the driver and all you have to do is shift up and its spring loaded so it pulls you to third from second. i havent made up my mind yet.....

Dont wast your money. Buy the Pro 5.0. When I bought my car it had a B&M. My previous car had one too and it was awsome in it (92 Thunderbird SC). But the one made for the f body doesnt compare to some of the other shifters they make. I found a board member who wanted to trade for some reason, and traded straight across for the 5.0 The 5.0 is hands down the better shifter. I absolutely hated the B&M. I dont know why it is so much worse than the shifter they made for my Thunderbird, but there was a huge difference. Needless to say, the other guy soon posted about how the 5.0 was better than the B&M. Im just glad that he didnt ask to trade back
