lt4 pressure plate?

I have looked at two brand new clutches from autozone. they are both the lt4 pressure plate and lt1 disc - both stamped valeo, both appear identical to all pictures i've seen of lt4 PP and lt1 disc.

However, both PP's appear to have localized surface cracks...or at least the appearance thereof.

can anyone tell me if this is a "normal" look for the lt4 PP, or is autozone getting "grade b" clutches?

oh - no, i'm not going to get a spec cluctch or a mcleod twin. The clutch is going behind a stock 245hp L98...stock LT1 clutch will hold no problem!

nick.

Maybe they are selling remanufactured LT4 PP's ? I didn't see any surface cracks in my SLP PP it's the LT4 with holes drilled to lighten it. That disc in the pic was an LT4 disc, I later switched back to a stock LT1 disc.

There should never be any sort of cracks in the pressure plate. That could lead to the casting bursting at higher RPMs.

right, that's why i am concerned. i can't really tell if they are surface cracks or real cracks, or just webbing in the mold. You really can't catch a fingernail on them.

The old LT1 clutch/PP I have does not have these marks on it.

The interesting part is that both PP's at two different autozones looked almost identical.

I guess I should try another source.
