LT1 Clutch Suggestions
I am tired of searching for which clutch I should use. I have looked at Spec, Competition, and Mcleod. I just want to find one that drives like (or as close to) stock but has more holding power. The car made/makes 405rwhp and 381lb/ft (it has been 5 years since it was last dyno'd), and I will be replacing this motor in a few years with a goal of around 600hp 5XXtq at the crank. I don't drag race the car, only taking it to a handful of hpde days at the local road course each year. Money really isn't an issue, but I don't want to spend more than I have to. My friend runs a Spec 3+ in his LS1, and I am not a huge fan of the clutch engagement. It has some chatter, and seems very on/off like.
What would you recommend? I am leaning toward the Mcleod Street Twin but I read that it has some issues with driving in traffic, and with the majority of the miles I put on the car are normal street use (roughly 2k per year) it has me concerned.

Re: LT1 Clutch Suggestions
Since I never received a response, I did more research and settled on Spec 2+. I am not confident that it was the best choice but there were too many opinions one way or the other. I should know in the next week or two if I made the right choice.

I have a McLeod twin disk, the early one. Works great, easy to manage engagement. however, you DO have to pay attention to their clearance values, or you can have one of them be 'on/off' too.

Re: LT1 Clutch Suggestions
I believe the only difference is the early version they only had the one available, which I have. Rated at 1200HP. Now they have several 'flavors' Mine was around $1400 including taxes and shipping.
The early ones also were a b*&ch to adjust if they weren't 'just right'. I do know that even the twin's don't like to be slipped much or they will burn up, so I used a beefed up transmission and an S-60 (dana 60 with F body perches and such) so I don't have to slip it, just dump it and let it go....
They even have a special 'page' on installation and adjustment... McLeod Racing - How To Properly Install The "Original" Street Twin.
Original information is at McLeod Racing - St.Twin.Diaph Steel Flywheel
According to their website, the RST is rated at 800 HP, the RXT at 1000HP and the street twin at 1200 HP.
