LT1 clutch slippage causes?
LT1 clutch slippage causes?
I have a 94 Z28 with a fresh(1000miles) 383 and 6 spd. The previous owner performed all the mods....BBK, Comp cam, Eagle, Borla, pulleys, injectors, MSD, Moroso, etc. He also installed a new Zoom Kevlar clutch and had the flywheel re-surfaced. Once I worked out some of the bugs and got the car in tune, the clutch lets loose above 2/3 throttle. Its feels almost like the car has an open diff and is spinning one tire. As soon as you let up, the clutch grips again. I can do burn outs, accelerate rather briskly with no problems and the Kevlar clutch still has the horrible chatter that ive heard I have to live with. In looking thru the hole for the slave cylinder, the clutch seems oil free. What could be causing this slippage? Was something done/not done when the flywheel was cut? Is there some internal adjustment with the clutch fork? Or is the front transmission seal leaking directly on the disc? Any and all information will be greatly appreciated.
something obvious to others may not be obvious to you (or me). with that said look at the pressure plate fingers, are they worn off down to small tips? how many miles on the clutch? do you need to break in the kevlar clutch? how much grease was put in the pilot bearing when transmission was installed, grease from that could have gotten on the disc on the front side which I don't think you'll see. Maybee your 383 just has to much tq
The clutch was purchased new when the engine was done and the flywheel was resurfaced then, also. There is less than 1000 miles on the entire setup. I guess I'm just going to have to suck it up and pull the tranni. Whats the chance of the T56 front seal leaking and is it hard to replace?
