lt1 clutch problems

Car: 95 LT1 Trans Am with T-56
stock resurfaced flywheel
Ram Powergrip HD Clutch
new slave cylinder
new Ram Adjustable clutch master cylinder

I just had a new motor put in. I put in the new powergrip HD clutch in. It was real hard to get into gear. Reverse wouldnt go at all. To get in reverse I had to put it in reverse then start it. I guess with the pedal all the way down it doesnt seem to be releasing all the way. So I put a new slave cylinder in and it didnt cure the problem. I noticed the pedal didnt come all the way up so I purchased a Ram adjustable master cylinder. Now the pedal is all the way up but still the same problem. I have bleed the slave cylinder manually until all the air was bleed out. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Waylon

I think I have finally fixed it. Reverse is still a little tough but livable. Of course I dont know how it will act once it finally makes it to the track. Is there such thing as adjusting to far???

What ended up solving the problem?
I have had to bleed the hell out of my slave cylinder as well and have seen the same symptoms as you. Now on a short trip with gentle driving I smell hot clutch. I have not replaced the slave cylinder but am thinking I may need to do so.
Right now I am at 560 miles on the new clutch and have had to bleed it 5 times.

In my personal application I had to have the ram adjustable master cylinder. I ended up rebleeding the slave cylinder by hand. By rebleeding and adjusting the master cylinder it works perfect now. All my parts were brand new minus the t-56. I have the ram power grip HD, adjustable ram master cylinder, new slave cylinder, resurfaced steel flywheel, and stock tranny. It shifts smoothly and the clutch is very streetable for my supercharged application. Reverse is slightly a nussiance but not that bad. If you have any more questions just shoot me a PM. I know how frustrating this is.

i had the same issue with the Ram disk, but with no adj. master, i ended up returning the clutch. and stock LT4 works perfectly, as does mcleod single disk.

My ram disk also did that, I returned it. I didnt know if it was the PP or the disc, but something was too thick.

If you resurface your fly wheel you should put shims behind it what however much they shave off
