LT1 - 4L80E Flexplates

I am currently putting a 4L80E behind my LT1. I can have the converter custom made to whatever bolt configuration I would like. What's everyone's opinion on the stock Flexplate? I am not reving over 6600 anytime soon, so I should go fine for now right? If I get the converter made to a stock LT1 flexplate I can still swap in a TCI or Jegs or Hays down the line, I am thinking they all have the same small bolt pattern.

I just saw one broke in half a while ago, and wanted to take this into consideration.

Update: Ran the stock one for two years, worked fine. I have the transmission and engine out and was wondering if anyone thinks it's worth putting an aftermarket one in there.

Do I need it balanced like the stock unit?

Has anyone used TCI's part number 399173 ? Talked to Bob Harrison one of the Engineers and he says it's setup for a stock bottom end LT1 and I would not need to have it balanced. Just bolt up and go...

Thoughts?
