ls1 trans cooler
ls1 trans cooler
couldnt find my answer in search, simple question you think i would know but dont. do ls1's have trans coolers? (a4) and if so, will stock be sufficient for a 3600 stall?
Re: ls1 trans cooler
All automatics have a factory cooler in the rad, but they're barely adequate at best
. I (FINALLY!!) just installed a cooler on my car last week, and it was just a couple hours of fiddling around, and it hooked up pretty easily!
It's really a cheap piece of insurance I guess?

Re: ls1 trans cooler
I would suggest a trans temp gauge before the install. I have a stewart warner which cost about $46 from Summit Racing. I then installed the B&M mentioned above. Another member claims to have dropped the trans temperature about 20 degrees with the B&M. It is very common for the fluid to go over 200 degrees coming out of the converter. 240 degrees is the magic number where transmission fluid begins to form varnish on the internals.
