Today i wanted to back into a parking space. I shifted the car into reverse, went in fine, and right after i backed in i wanted to take the car out of reverse but it would not let me, then the car cut off with the clutch pedal completely depressed and the car still in gear.

On the way home it did the same thing, but in 1st gear.

Whats going on?


The car is a 2001 trans am with ~29,000 miles on it

 

sounds like your slave cylinder is either bad or has air in it. you can bleed it but have to pull the tranny to replace it. next time it does it pump the pedal several times and it should allow you to shift, also check the fluid.
