There's a Pivot...T and the Clutch forks "guide (technical term needed)" slips onto it. You can pick up a new fork for like Fortah.

when i did my m6 conv. i had play in the fork also. it was a new fork and it would still drop off of the t-stud. the spring on the fork just seems to be what holds it on the t-stud while the slave is being bolted down. i tried several times to hook it up and when i would mash the clutch pedal i could hear the fork hit the tranny due to the fork falling off of the throw out bearing. i just held the fork in position with pressure from my finger then added the slave in place of my finger and it worked properly after that. make sure your fork is around the throw out bearing. my spec clutch was a little tricky to get the fork on it.
