Locking up an automatic trans

Not an automatic guy and basically dumb as a rock when it comes to automatic transmissions. We want to dyno the car with the trans locked up but not sure what the easiest way of doing it is.

Anyone know??

Re: Locking up an automatic trans

I don't have the schematic in front of me, but basically, I took the tan/blk wire from Blue connector #11 from the PCM that goes to the lockup solenoid and ran it to a switch that grounds the input, then the converter locks up. I'm not sure if it works correctly for an A4 car that still has the modulated lockup enabled. Mine is a 95 with the modulated lockup stuff outa there.

I tried programming it at one time some years ago but that got mixed results - I think you can do it that way, just haven't looked at lately with the latest rev of TC and all the extra parameters that it offers. I did, however, program the manual shift and kickdown parameters to keep it in 3rd.

Thank you very much as this is an area in which I know nothing, but it's time to learn.
