Lock-up only occurs with Lock-up Switch

After Dynotuning last year... and using the lockup switch, I think we shorted something out by accident.... as the switched was flicked on, then off by accident, then on again.

I can now lockup the converter by flicking the switch, but it will not lockup automatically when driving. It is not a computer programming issue, as I've looked it all over, and also used older programs that I know definately locked up. Since the converter is still locking up with the switch, I know the Solenoid is working.

Is there a piece that "controls" the lockup solenoid.... would it be easy to replace?

Thanks guys.

TTT after a few weeks... maybe someone can help me out. I'm getting the full exhaust redone, and will be replacing all fluids as well... if it is a quick fix... this would be the time to get it done.

Thanks in advance for your help.

IM thinking about getting a lock up switch, what were your trap speeds before and after you got it?

Just spoke to a couple buddies on another board and they said the lockup switch puts tremendous stress on your tranny especially the 3-4 clutch pack when you use it halfway down the track. Something to consider all that power is on the 3-4 clutch pack when you use it.

I understand the risk... the tranny has been significantly modified for heavy power so it's less of an issue. I also only engage it when it is already in 3rd gear at the end of the track.

I actually like it on the highway best.... when hitting it at higher speeds.... it really puts all the power to the wheels.

So does anyone have a clue of what could be wrong? It only works when I flick the switch... but not on its own.

Well first have you used a scanner or tuner to see it lockup is actually being commanded by the PCM that would be the place to start if not . I realized you have used programs but Have you looked at the data stream for lockup enable.
Your issue has to be one of two things a control issue having to do with the PCM or a wiring issue however that should set a code where a control issue may not , But from the trans perspective you have allready proven its not the culprit every time you use the switch.
And agreed above locking the converter during shifts is not a good idea , Though locking in Third after the shift has occurred is probably not a big issue.

Even with a stock tranny? Cause 3rd is where I really lose out. Who makes these switches, and are they hard to install?
