I recently bought an 86IROC. Has a 350 crate motor. Not sure of specs/parts, ect. The problem is that its not putting any power to the ground.(especially in "D" The previous owner had it for 14 yrs and did all the work to it, which includes a 2300 stall converter, B&M ratchet shifter(700r4) and the afore mentioned motor.. Not sure of the axle ratio, as the previous owner couldnt tell me. The motor itself is in pretty good shape, with the top end having less than 5k miles, and the carb having only a couple hundred miles. What could be causing the poor performance?

 

*Previous owner stated that it was a 305H.O. stock. I think the stock ratio is 3:73-1, but am not sure.

 

Nevermind. Got it figured out. Can't believe it, 65 views,and none of you stupid ****ers know anything.

 

lmao, what was your problem? did the tranny slip, was your cat clogged, fuel filter, muffler bearing, headlight fluid low or what? Not a real good discription of problem lol
My guess is tranny, those 700r4 trannys are garbage... I had built one with race clutches and metal, plus 10 vane pump and manual vlv body, thing blew up within 2 months with a built 350 in front of it. Then I went thru 2 more junk yard pulls each lasting maybe one day, I did like OD and the 341:1 first gear? dont remember specs too much it was over 10 years ago when I took that class...
