limited slip rebuild

My son is currently driving a 95 Formula, 6-speed with 169,000 miles. The problem is that the limited slip rearend does not seem to lock up like it should. Is it possible that the clutches are shot? If so can it be rebuilt or should I just replace with a new unit. I hate to purchase used rearends as I have seen several with the same problem. Any suggestions on the bang for the buck in this situation? Thanks

Re: limited slip rebuild

Cost effective would be a new Limited Slip from a aftermarket vendor before a rebuild.

Yea,
I wandered if that would be the best. I have not priced any yet but have not found anyone in the area here that wants to rebuild it. Thanks
