With the Chinese one being slightly stronger?

Unhappy AC Delco Clutch Kit

Don't mean to high-jack, but I saw this posting and I felt compelled to register and post a response. I recently bought an AC Delco clutch kit and it also does not have the "Valeo" stamped into the casting. It has the C70043 stamp and it also says made in China on it. Does anybody know if AC Delco is manufacturing its parts in China now? I am thinking this might be a cheap knock-off packaged in an AC Delco box but not sure. Does anyone have some knowledge on this?

Welcome to the forums.

As wrd1972 posted, the chinese PP has a slightly higher clamping force. That says nothing about longevity however, which I wouldn't trust to a chinese part. It's actually kind of upsetting to see American manufacturers switching to overseas parts.

My brother told me AC Delco recently moved to China, so that wouldn't be surprising.

The pressure plate couldn't be too bad or I don't think the larger companies, like Ram, would be using it.

Well, at least that's my hopeful thinking.

AC Delco Clutch Kit

Thanks for the input. I will probably return the kit and find something else. China does not have the best track record when it comes to dependable parts, and I would rather spend a little more money to get something I feel is going to last. (no offense to anyone who may like Chinese parts) I have a feeling that more clutch kits are going to start using these non-Valeo stamped plates. I thought that Valeo had the patent for the F-body pressure plate because its a pull style and that was why you saw Valeo stamped on every F-body pressure plate. Even the McCleod dual disk kit had a Valeo. Maybe Valeo sold the patent?

Hey Chevycobb, you better hang onto the Valeo. It might be a collectors item soon!

Yup. End of page one.

I got the Chinese one when ordering a Ram Kit, so it's just not AC Delco doing it.

Wow, that sucks. Both my RAM kits came with Valeo PPs. I'll have to be on the lookout in the future then. I hope they aren't phasing out the Valeo ones and replacing them all with cheap chinese knockoffs.
