Is this large round hole supposed to be here?

Was giving my car a thorough look over to see if there was anything that needed to be replaced and I noticed a big round hole on the bottom side of the transmission and you can see the flywheel(?). Is this supposed to be here?!

P.S. The oil drippings are not from this car.

Yes... it is there so you can inspect the flywheel without removing the dust cover.

There's a snap in stainless steel cover for that hole. You should get and install one to keep accidental debree from getting in there.
