installing a kevlar pilot bushing...
So, I ponied up and got the kevlar pilot bushing from Jegs.. The instructions say to use some high strength thread locking compound on the outside diameter.
So, is this the red or blue stuff?
Has everyone used this, or installed it dry??
Getting that bearing out was pretty easy with the advanced autoparts pilot bearing puller, not the slide hammer btw.
Looking for opinions and experience with the kevlar bushings!!!
Thanks

I tried to use the kevlar pilot bushing but it was too tight on my input shaft once I got it in there. Mine was such a tight fit I think any kind of thread locker will be fine. I just replaced it with a jegs roller bearing and it fit perfect. Just make sure you check the input shaft fitment before you put the clutch back on. Let me know how yours fits, I couldn't get any feedback from anyone on here that had one.
ok, well that will **** me off if it is tight on the input shaft... expecially for the price I paid! The tranny is in North Carolina, and hopefully it will be shipped back next week so I can check on it. Thanks for the heads up.
re
I too installed the Kevlar bushing and it was too tight on the input shaft Asked a Jegs tech before I bought it and he said it would work fine Oh well just more money down the hole put a regular bushing in after, Art
well wtf? Seriously? I guess it will wear in, cuz I am installing that overpriced bushing! I paid alot for it because it was supposed to be the cats meow, we will see how it works I guess...
Let us know how it goes, I'm curious. I thought my clutch wasn't releasing but it was because the input shaft was so tight in the pilot bushing. I'd take a picture but I had to drill on it to get the autozone puller in there.
UPDATE:
Got the tranny back. Checked the pilot bushing, and it was fine! It was not snug at all on there... so not sure why you guys had problems, but mine fit perfect!!!
Here ends the update.
