I need a tranny. Are they year-specific?

I've been through 3 A4 4L60e's with my 3200stall. And I do have a tranny cooler.

I bought one a few years back that was out of a 94 and it lasted 2 months with minimal abuse, practically none.

A transmission builder and I believe several others on here told me that if I used an A4 out of another year, that I would need to have my PCM reprogrammed for that year. Something about shift points, shift pressures ect.

Does this sound anything correct? I'm hunting for another A4 to toss in while I build my new motor/tranny combo but I need it to hold for awhile.

Thanks so much in advance!

Actually it has to do with the 3-2 solenoid and I would suggest you get a trans built for your car

So I'm assuming this is all mechanical and therefor can't be offset with any changes in programming?

Like I said I will have one built but for the time I just need a temporary unit that will let me cruise for a few months on it.
