all the automatic LT1's i have seen have this on the shifter

Park reverse overdrive, non overdrive, 2 , 1

my LT1 is the only one i know that doesn't have the 1 on it.

it goes to two and there is nothing after that, does anyone else have this or am i just a freak

 

I am pretty sure that means that you have a 2.73 rearend.

The other rearend that comes stock in the A4 cars is 3.23. The only difference, I believe, in the shifter is that there is a selection for 1st gear.

 

If you want access to first gear, pull the console and look at the shifter gate. On the passenger side there is a little plastic stop molded into the plastic shifter gates that prevents the shifter from going back into "1". Hacksaw, cut, file it off and you can now pull the car down into first...fyi..and yes not having a 1 means you have a 2.73 rear gear...

yep, the shift linkage is the same inside the tranny, it's jsut the stop.


also, the "no 1 = 2.73" rule seems to only be true in the LT1 years. My 98 Z was originally a GU2 (2.73) car and it's got the 1.
