I swapped from A4 to M6. My trans is D&D Viper T56 and I have Spec 3 Clutch with Spec Aluminum Flywheel.

I can't drive around 20mph without pressing clutch. Car is shaking like a horse. I must press the clutch to get smooth, or get the shift neutral. Maybe its related to my cam (240/246dur. 112lsa), but no something should be wrong. M6 should be funny, but its not funny at all. I hope there is a problem, because if not it is too difficult to get smooth drive.

You guys always press the clucth pedal while you drive around low speed?

 

Welcome to the wonderfull world of cam surge in 6-spds, I have a 222/230 cam and at low speeds under 2K i get surge.

 

mine happens at 1500rpm when trying to maintain speed. doesn't doing when excellerating...just cruising...sometimes.

but yeah...it's cam surge.

alot of times it can be tuned out. but with THAT big of a cam...doubtfull

 

Tuning can eliminate cam surge, Jeff Creech cured mine.

 

OMG! so its a regular thnig huh? Wow! I already got my tune from Ion (MadZ28), so to eliminate the surging of cam (shaking), I press the clutch pedal at low speeds, you guys do that? I think my Spec will last a few days later lol

 

what gear are you in?? If i put the car in 4th @ 30 mph with my engine temp150 degrees or lower with light throttle my cam surge is alot more noticable then it is when the car is fully warmed up.

I wonder if your experiencing the specs clutch chatter

Okay while I'm racing it is really funny, and acceleration Woww!!!

BUT,

While I'm driving in traffic (thats mostly) with my girlfriend, thats something like horse! I MUST press the clutch pedal or get the switch neutral.

You guys struggle like me while in traffic or at low speeds ????

 

Tuning will cure that. Just use lower gears/louder music Btw, alum. flywheel makes it worse. Is clutch/flywheel balanced correctly?

 

I am confused by this post. Are you hearing it (chatter) or are you feeling it (bucking like a horse) you eluded to both. Also when you had it tuned did you tell him you converted to an M6? if it is still tuned for the auto then there are more things that need to be done to the tune....

 

Yes its Spec 3 Clutch and Spec Aluminum Flywheel balanced and came bolted on the block.
I have no vibration while acceleration, Or cruising at 3000rpms

 

I'm hearing noise that is coming from shifter area. I think thats transmission noise.
Yeah bucking like a horse, while I'm driving around 2000rpm without pressing any pedals.

is the noise you hear at the same time as the bucking? if so then it is all associated to cam surge, and since you said it was tuned fo the m6 then you may want to go to Jeff Creech to have it dyno tuned and get that tuned out too. Jeff is cool and can work serious magic...

 

No, I heard the noise while I'm driving at low speeds at 2nd or 3rd gear. I'm sure its transmission.
I don't know about clutch "chatter". This is my first M6 impressions, so I don't know what I'm hearing is normal, or not.
Yes dyno tune would be great if I live there

The noise could be the gears in the tranny meshing Do you have a aftermarket Shifter?
