Question Hypertech shift firmness programming and tranny wear?

I've programmed my Formula with Hypertech power programming, including firming up the shifting. It would catch rubber in the first shift and sometimes 2nd under hard throttle stock. Now after programming, it catches sideways rubber in the 1-2 shift and healthy rubber 2-3. The trannies working flawlessly except I now get a bit of drive belt squeal between aggressive shifts. I've heard tho that because of higher line pressure I might cause premature tranny wear/failure?

I would assume Hypertech would not raise pressures enough to cause transmission trouble, but then again, you never know. A really tired transmission might not like it, but one in good shape should be ok.

If you had a real tuning program, you could set up the transmission attributes you like in the performance mode tables, so that you could turn it on and off with the perform button you added.

Thanks for the info Shoe I didn't think the hypertech shifting would be a prob...but I had read someone mentioning line pressures and increased wear so though I would ask. I'm not even sure I need the extra shift firmness, the car shifted pretty aggressively stock. But it does grab a quicker gear now....you can hear it go from one gear to the next rpm wise like right NOW....no lag at all. And its fun to grab sideways rubber during a shift My formula came with the tranny perform button. It does raise the shift points to about redline and shifts harder...but I never thought about mapping it so I had softer shifts for cruising and harder shifts for fun. Thanks for the suggestion Next time I will def be using one of the board guys for my tuning
